7 Ways the Mobile App Will Enhance Your RootsTech Experience

RootsTech 2018 is almost here!

More than 15,000 people from across the world are expected to make the trek to Salt Lake City on February 28-March 3, 2018 to learn, discover, preserve, and share family stories.

For RootsTech attendees, 2018 will be the biggest and most impressive year of the conference to date. With over 300 informative sessions to choose from, an all-star lineup of keynote speakers, and more than 200 exhibitors in the expo hall, perhaps you’re wondering, “How do I make the most of my RootsTech experience?”

Our suggestion? Download the app.

The RootsTech mobile app, sponsored by WordPress, is now available for download from the App Store and the Google Play Store. RootsTech directors say the app is designed for conference attendees to help them navigate the conference, build a personalized daily agenda, and connect with other attendees.

“The RootsTech app really will be a great resource for attendees during the event,” said Tyler Stahle, RootsTech marketing manager. “Within the app you can view the full conference schedule, add classes that you’re interested in to your agenda, and even look up information about vendors and speakers.”

If you already have the 2017 version of the app installed on your device, you can access the 2018 content by:

  1. Opening the RootsTech app
  2. From the home screen, tap “Exit to Show List” in the bottom right corner
  3. Select “RootsTech 2018”

While there are many helpful features within the app, here are seven you might find most useful:

Create a Personalized Class Schedule

From the home screen of the app, tap the “Conference Schedule” icon to browse a comprehensive list of workshops, classes, and activities offered each day of the conference. Tap on sessions that you’re interested in to learn more about the topic, the presenter, and the location. Once you’ve found sessions that you wish to attend, tap the star icon to add the session to your agenda. This event will then be added to your agenda and plotted on your calendar.

View Your Daily Schedule

Once you’ve selected the classes you’re interested in attending, you can view your daily schedule by tapping the “My Schedule” icon on the homepage. From here, you’ll be able to see the sessions you’re attending plotted out hour by hour.

Find Speaker Information

Have a favorite speaker that you don’t want to miss? You can view a comprehensive list of speakers and the sessions they’ll be presenting by tapping the “Speakers” icon on the home screen.

Connect on Social Media

After tapping the “Social Media” icon on the home screen, you can follow the RootsTech conversation on social media. You’ll be able to see what @RootsTechConf (the official RootsTech Twitter account) is tweeting and read the latest posts from the official bloggers at the conference.

Find Your Favorite Vendors

Tap the “Exhibitors” icon on the home screen to see a full list of the 200+ exhibitors that will be at RootsTech 2018.

Sync Across Multiple Devices

Have the RootsTech app on multiple devices? You can sync it across these various devices and preserve your personal schedule and notes by tapping the gear icon in the upper right corner on the home screen. From there, select “Multi Device Sync” and follow the instructions on the next screen to sync.

Access the RootsTech Blog

You can access the RootsTech blog year-round from the app! The blog is the best place to get the latest news from RootsTech, as well as to read articles on topics such as preserving family photos, creating a virtual family reunion, or researching a census record. To access the RootsTech blog, select the “Exit to Conference List” icon from the home screen. On the next page, you’ll see the “Blog” icon located on the bottom bar. Click “Blog” to be taken to the RootsTech blog within the app and read the latest updates from the conference.

Already downloaded the app? Tweet us any questions you may have @RootsTechConf.
