RootsTech 2020 Saturday Day in Review: Rushing into New Territory with Family History

Celebrating the Story of You, 10 Years of RootsTech, and Emmitt Smith

That’s a wrap on RootsTech 2020! We ended with an incredible keynote, inspiring classes, and connections that will last a lifetime. Throughout this conference we have celebrated stories—our stories. The story of you, the story of this industry, and the story of all the amazing things we have accomplished and will accomplish together. We have had an amazing conference, and that’s because of you! Thank you!

General Session

Everyone has a story of difficulty and triumph. It’s what gets us on our feet during a game or after a friend or family member has conquered a fear. Many countries are founded on stories of the underdog, stories of people working hard and changing their lives for the better—and here on the RootsTech stage, we heard just such a story from the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith.

Smith took to the RootsTech stage and shared his powerful story of love of family, love of the game, and achieving his dreams. Inspiring the audience, Smith shared,

"I want to encourage each and every one of you to do the same thing. Find out who you are, where you come from, find out what makes you different than your bothers and sisters, find out what makes you different than anyone else, find out what’s inside of you that will give you strength to not only go forward, but also embrace what your past was all about."
