What’s Happening Tomorrow

Friday’s general session features Saroo Brierley, the subject of the highly acclaimed movie Lion. As a five-year-old in remote India, Saroo became separated from his older brother one night while foraging for food for the family. Through a series of challenges and mishaps, he ended up across the country and, after a few years, was adopted by a couple in Australia, where he was well educated and loved but was haunted by the unknown of his original family. As a young adult, he longed to learn of his past. Through the use of technology and slivers of memory from his childhood, Saroo found his widow mother, now aged and heartbroken. His experience is a testament to the power of family and belonging. His keynote speech begins at 11:00 a.m. on the main stage.
