Your Road Map to London: Tools to Get Around
We are just a short way off from the kickoff for RootsTech London, our first international conference! We are so excited that so many of you will be joining us from all around the world. If this is your first time visiting London, we have compiled some resources to help you get around this historic city.
The Visit London website and app will help you get a jump-start on planning your stay. You can learn more about what an Oyster card is, find recommendations for additional activities to do in London, and find tips for getting around. This app is a must for those who are visiting for the first time and for those who are coming back.
You can download the app here
Google Maps is a great, free, no bells and whistles app and webpage for everyone. You can get directions, transit information, maps, local listings, and more. But, aside from the obvious functions of Google Maps, there are many ways you can use it to help your genealogy research, and we have shared some of those ways on our blog.
Tube Map: London Underground (offline)
Easily one of the most comprehensive Underground maps, this app allows you to view maps of the tube, buses, overground trains, and more while offline. Download the app now and have everything you need before RootsTech London even begins!
Not only does the Citymapper app include maps for the tube and other public transportation services, but this app also includes options for Uber, taxi, biking, and other transportation. In addition, it provides a cost estimation, time for travel, and even estimates the calories you will burn! This app is also good in many other cities around the world.
